About Me and My Journey

Someone told me I should do a little about me section for anyone who does not know me personally but stumbles upon my blog.  I'm sure most people reading this are just friends and family, but will go ahead and do a quick rundown.

Disclaimer, I am not a great writer, so don't get your hopes up for mind blowing revelations put into eloquent words haha but I have been wanting to blog recently and why not start now?!?!

My Weight-loss AKA Trying to get Healthy Journey

Me down 95 pounds
Back in 2009, I joined Weight Watchers.  I had great success with WW and lost 95 pounds over the course of 2 years.  Throughout those years, I started to workout more and at some point fractured a bone in my foot.  In Feb 2011, I had to have reconstructive surgery on my foot.  If you have never had foot surgery before, let me tell you, this has been the longest recovery, a lot worse than I expected.  I was couch-bound for 10 days.  Then eight weeks of crutches.  And when I finally was able to start trying to walk again, it hurt oh so bad.  Through this time, I went from working out two hours a day to nothing!  Which lead to depression, which lead to over eating, which lead to a year later, I have gained 50 of the 95 pounds back AHHHHH!!!

It is time to recommit to myself and my friends and family that I am worth the work to keep this stupid weight off!  I tried to go back to WW but it just was not working for me.  I have tried a few other things, but nothing has been clicking.  I had some friends tell me about their experiences with Whole30 and here we are...

Why Whole30?

I am going to use this blog to be HONEST about how my Whole30 goes and what I do and do not like about it.  I am not affiliated with Whole9life or the Whole30 program but want to give them props so click HERE to go to their site to learn more.  I decided to try out Whole30 for several reasons:

  1. I have several friends (shout out to Jeff and Kendra and all the others) who have tried it and swear it has changed their life.
  2. I'm always up for my life being changed!
  3. After reading their book, "It Starts with Food", I was convinced this was worth a shot!
  4. I have been wanting to get off of processed foods anyway, especially before my husband and I start trying to have kids!  I don't want to pass my bad habits onto new little ones!
My friend and cousin, Julie, will be doing Whole30 too!! I will post daily throughout the 30 days to talk about my day and how I felt, what I ate, etc.  Why Whole30?  Why not Whole30 sounds like a better question to me :)

Randomness about Me

<3 Me and Lee <3
I am married to a very tall guy named Lee.  He is currently going to school for a MBA.  He loves basketball and gambling. He is also always super supportive of me and my weight loss goals!!!

aren't they handsome?!?!?

We live together with our two kittens, David and Matthew.  They will be 2 in July but they will always be kittens to us! I love Dave Matthews, hence the kittens names :)

I am a lawyer at a non-profit working in the field of mediation.  I volunteer on a local board dedicated to creating and sustaining sustainable food systems.

I was introduced to yoga by one of my now best friends, Lisa Dover, and have never looked back! I consider myself a practicing yogi and appreciate Lisa's push to get into yoga!
